Creating a Culture of Feedback
I have a confession: I was in a college a cappella group (no punny name though, unfortunately). I’ve been a singer my whole life and have always been invested in being as perfect as possible in my tone, technique, and resonance. When I was younger, I admit to being overly sensitive when someone tried to correct me or improve my sound - looking back it’s a little mortifying just how personally I took attempts at improvement. Then one day, freshman year of college, I witnesse

Nexus Review: Peerceptiv
There are several challenges faculty face when preparing feedback for students. For example: How can I efficiently give meaningful, individualized feedback to all learners? How can I help students use feedback to improve their work? How do I involve students in the feedback process to foster reflection and critical thinking? Peerceptiv offers a way to address these challenges. The platform engages students in structured peer review (NYU login required) using instructor-desi

Nexus Review: H5P - An Interactive Content Authoring Tool

The concept was simple yet deeply moving - you walk in, pick a pair of shoes that speaks to you, try them on, and listen to the story of their previous owner. The entire exhibit was built inside a shoe-shaped box, and honestly,

What I Learned From Being a Student in an Online Asynchronous Class
Online asynchronous learning is a common course model in higher education. According to the National Center for Education Statistics (n.d.), over 50% of students were enrolled in online or “distance” learning in 2024. Typically, students in an online asynchronous course access course materials, complete assignments, and participate in activities on their own schedules rather than meet synchronously as a class online. A few years ago, I enrolled as a student in a 12-week onli
